speaker highlights

Our speaker was Lissa Kreisler, long time DJ with KLOK and KBAY, now retired. She was inducted in the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame, and was known to share her life with her loyal audience daily. Her talk was titled "Decades of Sunny Mornings" and included many witty anecdotes as well as how she covered serious news such as the 9-11 tragedy. She currently conducts interviews of people doing good deeds in our community at KCAT. For more info go to www.kcat.org
 
 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • There was a moment of silence after the pledge for the Las Vegas shooting victims.
  • Two visiting Rotarians from England exchanged Rotary flags with our club.
  • Reminder that Rebuild Together Project is looking for volunteers for the Oct 28 event. See Dave Downing or the club website for more details.
  • First Thursday Happy Hour is at Claudine's in Saratoga this Thursday 5-7pm.
  • Mike Norcia explained plans for the Fall Fundraiser and got some feedback. Bocce Ball last year (raising roughly $6000) was fun but a bit labor intensive, and a movie night at Los Gatos Theater is in the works this fall with possible happy hour/appetizers at a downtown venue. More details to come.
  • Dan Snyder continued efforts at our club's Rotary Foundation pledge goal of 100% participation. Any pledge amount is ok, and the hope is that each Los Gatos Rotarian contributes something.
  • Len Smith proudly sported a t-shirt celebrating his 90 years on the planet!
